“The film shows the corrosive effects of fear and anxiety in Japan from the threat of nuclear attack through one family’s tragic story. An elderly foundry owner becomes so obsessed that he tries to move his entire family to Brazil. His grown children prevail on their reluctant mother to petition the court to have him declared incompetent. A sympathetic dentist who is serving as a family court mediator is deeply troubled by the case.” More info on the film here.
Kids will learn to dye cloth in the Shibori style (refined tie-dye technique). Squares will be assembled to make a peace quilt to be delivered to delegates from Japan. See details here.
