Grappling with Nuclear Power Town Hall

Wednesday, October 19, 7pm (doors at 6:30 PM), University of Pittsburgh, O’Hara Student Center Ballroom, 4024 O’Hara Street (next to Benedum Hall)

This  town hall forum will explore and contextualize nuclear energy through the lens of sustainability. The event will begin with brief presentations by four experts in the field:

  • Dr. Gregory Reed, Director of the University Of Pittsburgh Power and Energy Initiative
  • Professor Larry Foulke, Ph.D., Nuclear Engineering Certificate Program at University of Pittsburgh
  • Dr. Patricia DeMarco, Ph.D., Director of the Rachel Carson Institute at Chatham College
  • Mr. Michael Mariotte, Executive Director of the Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS) in D.C.

The presentations will be followed by a question and answer session and an open floor for the audience to ask questions, make comments, and express opinions.

This event is co-sponsored by Remembering Hiroshima, Imagining Peace (a loose alliance of diverse labor, peace, educational, environmental and cultural organizations) and  several Pitt student organizations (Engineers for A Sustainable World, Free The Planet, One Life One World One Peace, and Students For Nuclear Power).
