Film “Black Rain” 9/17, 7pm @ Shadow Lounge

Please join us for our first of four films as part of Remembering Hiroshima, Imagining Peace, this Saturday evening at the Shadow Lounge (5972 Baum Blvd.).

“Black Rain” is a classic 1989 film by Shohei Imamura that shows the effect of the Hiroshima bombing harrowingly and beautifully through the story of one family.  It focuses on a lovely young woman who with her aunt and uncle crossed the destroyed city and experienced the radioactive black rain that fell.  Most of the film is set five years after the bombing, when she was viewed as being unmarriageable because she would be subject to radiation sickness at any time.
